Often times, we as Christians have a misconception of how the Holy Spirit dwells and works within us as believers. We have to come to the realization that God will not be able to work in and through us, if he is spending all His time working on our lives. We must have a greater sensitivity to our sin which directly grieves His Holy Spirit resulting in a wandering Christian walk.
