Tonight Pastor Phil continues in Romans, Chapter 8. In Romans 6 through Romans 8 we learn that because of the finished work on the Cross—sin no longer has ahold of us. That we are dead TO sin because of the finished work of Jesus, whereas before we were saved we were dead IN sin.
In Romans Chapters 7 & 8, Paul continues to bring home the point of what the sanctification process is in a believer. In tonight's verses we see his reflection on his own heart and examines it in comparison to Jesus. That Christ Jesus has made us free from the law of sin and death.
Romans Chapter 8 is one of the most comforting chapters in the Bible—in fact it is God’s prescription for troubled hearts, His special remedy for the devil’s ‘guilt trips.’
"There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit." Romans 8:1 — Brothers & Sisters: Memorize this verse to use against the enemy of your soul!
***
Paul chose Rome for a reason when he went out to preach. Firstly, because God had sent him, but because Rome was a central 'point of the world' as 'all roads lead to Rome'. So if he shared the Gospel there, whomever received it would carry God's Word, and the testimonies of Paul and the work they'd seen done out into the four corners of the world.
Often referred to as the Gospel according to Paul, and the greatest book ever written, Paul's letter to the Romans will become our focus as Pastor Phil continues to lead us through the Word of God.

10-16-24Tonight Pastor Phil begins Romans, Chapter 7. In Romans 6 through Romans 8 we learn that because of the finished work on the Cross—sin no longer has ahold of us. That we are dead TO sin because of the finished work of Jesus, whereas before we were saved we were dead IN sin. We'll continue to learn about the sanctification process as a believer. In Chapter 7, Paul continues to bring home the point that we are no longer slaves to sin, but have been set free of it because of the finished work of The Cross.***Paul chose Rome for a reason when he went out to preach. Firstly, because God had sent him, but because Rome was a central 'point of the world' as 'all roads lead to Rome'. So if he shared the Gospel there, whomever received it would carry God's Word, and the testimonies of Paul and the work they'd seen done out into the four corners of the world.Often referred to as the Gospel according to Paul, and the greatest book ever written, Paul's letter to the Romans will become our focus as Pastor Phil continues to lead us through the Word of God.Calvary Chapel Elk Grove is a non-denominational fellowship located in Roselle, a northwest suburb of Chicago in Illinois. This weeks' Video Message:
