James 4:11-17
Pastor Phil Ballmaier
2-22-17
The James who wrote the epistle that bears his name is regarded by most, if not all evangelicals, to be James the half-brother of the Lord Jesus Christ. James was not a follower of Jesus during His earthly ministry but became a believer after His resurrection. James went on to become the lead pastor of the church in Jerusalem. He was the one who made the deciding speech at the Jerusalem Council (15:13–22), and Paul called James one of the pillars of the church (Galatians 2:9).
The Book of James challenges us to walk in faith and obedience as doers of the Word and not hearers only. It is a radical call to commitment for those who are followers of Jesus Christ.
Calvary Chapel Elk Grove is a non-denominational fellowship located in Elk Grove Village, a northwest suburb of Chicago in Illinois, led by our Senior Pastor, Phil Ballmaier.

2-19-17The Book of 2 Samuel chronicles David’s rise to power as Israel’s second, and possibly greatest king in their history. His reign covered forty years (seven in Hebron over the tribe of Judah; and thirty-three years as king over all of Israel). David’s reign, although glorious, wasn’t free from controversy and shame. His sin with Bathsheba, the rebellion in his own family with regard to Absalom and his numbering of the people leading to God’s judgment were a few of the darker events of David’s later years as king.
Approximately half of the book tells of King David’s success and the other half shows his failures. Overall the Holy Spirit lifts David up in the pages of Scripture as a man after God’s heart—a man who loved God and never worshiped an idol. And as such he became the standard the Lord used to judge all the other kings of Israel and Judah by—the degree to which “they walked in the steps of their father David.” - Feb 12, 201728. 2 Samuel 17:1-23 A Wise Fool

Grieving The Holy Spirit—Getting Serious With God
Ephesians 4:30Often times, we as Christians have a misconception of how the Holy Spirit dwells and works within us as believers. We have to come to the realization that God will not be able to work in and through us, if he is spending all His time working on our lives. We must have a greater sensitivity to our sin which directly grieves His Holy Spirit resulting in a wandering Christian walk.
Join Pastor Bob as he opens up in Ephesians 4:30 to address this very important topic.
"And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption." Ephesians 4:30
