Feb '21
Dear Calvary Family,
As you have probably heard, the temperature Sunday morning is projected to be 5 below with wind chills approaching 25 below. We are still planning on having church, but I want to encourage our senior saints to pray about staying home and watching the service at our 10:30 livestream. I don’t want anyone put in harm’s way due to the extremely bitter and potentially life threatening cold our area will be experiencing. We love you all very much and don’t want anything to happen to you—and of course by God’s grace we’ll all come thru this without a problem.
In our precious Savior’s name,
Phil
2020 Vision For The Heartland | 7-18-20
I want to invite everyone to a special outreach we are sponsoring on Saturday, July 18th.
Pastor and Evangelist Mike Macintosh will be coming out and sharing at The Gazebo at the Jack A. Claes Pavilion located at 1000 Wellington Avenue, in Elk Grove Village, IL.
The outreach will begin at 6 PM with worship, followed by a timely message from Pastor Mike concerning God’s love for the American people during this time of national crisis and uncertainty.
Mike has traveled the world preaching the gospel and has been given a special message from The Lord which he will be taking to the Heartland of our nation this summer. The outreach is called “2020 Vision for the Heartland”.
This is an outside venue so grab a blanket or a lawn chair and come join us for an evening of worship and a special uplifting message from the Lord.
For more information about the outreach or if you have any questions, please visit the Outreach Event website at: http://www.2020heartland.org

The War on Christmas
26
Dec '18
Well, after taking a few years off—I see that the war on Christmas is back. That the “Grinches” are back who want to do away with Christmas—or at least downplay it to the point that it is no longer recognizable. For example:
- Many retailers have instructed their employees to no longer say “Merry Christmas” but instead to say something generic like “Happy Holidays” or “Seasons Greetings.”
- Many companies won’t allow their employees to put up a Manger or to even have a small one displayed on their desk.
- Many employers have instructed their employees that they can’t give one another Christmas cards containing any “religious” themes as they might be offensive to some.
Of course, one of the main areas where we see this anti-Christmas, political correctness being promoted is in public schools across our nation.
Christmas Dessert Message
The audio and video messages are now available online for the 2018 Calvary Chapel Women’s Christmas Dessert. Cyndi Ballmaier shared her heart in her message, “White As Snow”. The theme verse reference comes out of Isaiah 1:18.
A special thank you to all those who were a part of making this years’ event a blessing for all those who attended.
The Life of God
The purpose for which John the Apostle wrote his gospel was so that people could have eternal life—a purpose he clearly states at the end of his gospel when he said—
John 20:31 (NKJV)
…these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name.
Fifty-four times in his gospel John talks about the life that Jesus gives. The Greek word he uses for life is Zoë, a word that means spiritual life, or in other words—the life of God. The Bible defines Zoë life as a dynamic life, a fruitful life, a joyful and fulfilled life.
It’s a life that Jesus Himself said was abundant and David in Psalm 23 described as overflowing. But here’s the problem—if I were to go around asking people to define the concept of ‘life ‘—for many it would be a little hard to nail down. Most people today would probably try to define life in terms of a quality of living.
They would say that life is about achieving a certain level of happiness based on success in their chosen career field which brings them affluence, material possessions and possibly even fame. But this abundant life that Jesus spoke of isn’t external as many believe and teach.
